             youth

Our youth ministry partners with youth to belong and grow in faith and community.  We are accepting – we invite, welcome, and embrace all youth; committed – we are dedicated to Christ and our community; enthusiastic – we are passionate and energetic; and authentic – we are genuine about our strengths and weaknesses.

How do I connect with Roots Youth Ministry?

THE TRELLIS
Sundays, 10:15a in the SYC library
This program is temporarily on hold due to Covid-19 concerns.
All youth in middle school and high school are invited to hang out in the SYC library Sunday mornings at 10:15am. We discuss current news stories and how they relate to our faith and our community.
THE CAMPFIRE
Sundays, 6-8p, Sign up to attend

We are meeting in groups of 6 or less people on Sunday nights at the church firepit. Wear a mask, and bring a snack. We're discussing topics anywhere from race in America to our favorite types of pie. The Campfire is a way for us to safely connect in person. Click here to sign up!

ROOTS
Sundays, 6-8pm in the SYC
This program is temporarily on hold due to Covid-19 concerns.
Youth and adults come together for a community meal, games, and discussion about life, faith, and belief. If you’re looking for a place to experience real-life community, this is it.
PARENTING
We’re here for you.
This Youth Ministry is for more people than teenagers.  It’s for the parents of teenagers, too.  That’s why we’ve invested in several resources for parents.  If you’re in the Roots Facebook group, every now and then we will post articles for you to read, pamphlets that give you info about pop culture, and tips for ways to create conversations during dinner. Send an e-mail to Jake Brooks (jakebrooks@franklingrace.org) for more information.

ROOTS MEAL DONATIONS
We’re always looking for people to partner with us to supply food for Roots dinners. You can get together with a few friends and do a meal as a group, or you can donate money or food we can store in the kitchen — such as pasta, peanut butter, etc. Contact Beth Stillabower (bethstillabower@franklingrace.org) to get plugged in.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
The time and energy volunteers give to the youth makes way more of an impact than anything else. It’s not very often that teenagers can connect with a caring adult who is interested in their lives on a personal level. Serving behind-the-scenes fosters those relationships between teenagers and an adult mentor. It also frees up the church staff to train people up, spend time with parents, and do all the administrative work required for the ministry to function.

If you’re interested in serving, please fill out this form. This is simply to gain more information; there’s no commitment involved. You can find a list of potential ways you can serve here. At the end of the day, we want to match you up in an area that best fits your gifts and strengths.
