WELCOME KELLI MOSS
We are excited to share that Kelli Moss has joined the Grace UMC staff as the new Congregational Care Coordinator!  Below is a letter from Kelli introducing herself:

Hello Grace Church!

While I’m friends with many of you, for those that don’t know me, my name is Kelli and I’m so excited to officially kickoff my role as Congregational Care Coordinator.

Prior to moving to the Franklin community in 2016, I spent my life in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Born and raised in the area, I married my husband Scott April 24, 1970 and shortly after we had our first child, Didi. Seven years later we had a house filled with love and two more amazing kiddos, my son Rick whom most of you know, and baby of the family, Cara.

The greatest joy in my life comes from my 7 grandchildren and one great granddaughter. We may be scattered across the country, but my heart swells any time we get a visit or a call comes in.

While living in Idaho Falls, I spent 35 years working at the Department of Corrections and Bonneville County Courts before retiring. On the weekends we routinely spent time in Yellowstone, Montana, and the beautiful mountains outside our back door. Scott is always up to something creative, whether taking nature photos or woodworking. I always love joining him for the ride no matter the adventure. In my spare time I also enjoy reading a good book (hi, Bible study/book club!), baking,
sewing, and collecting tiny things. They’re just so cute!

Since moving to Franklin, we’ve felt lucky in finding this incredible group of people and enjoy being active in the community. Our three-year-old Golden Retriever Bohdi keeps us busy, but we sure love the goofball.

If you want to know anything else, please stop by and say hello! I’m thrilled to be here and look forward to meeting you all in my new role. Until then, sending love and blessings to you and you families.

Sincerely,
Kelli

SAVE THE DATE - GLS IS COMING TO GRACE AGAIN!
We are excited to host the Global Leadership Summit again this year here at Grace!  This year's event will take place Thursday, August 4 and Friday, August 5.  Visit globalleadership.org to purchase your ticket at the Early Bird price.  Early Bird tickets are $179 until May 3 (after that, $229)!

SIGN UP TO JOIN THE YARD MOWING TEAM
Sign Up Center
Sign up at the Sign Up Center to be a member of the 2023 mowing crew.  Mowing begins in April and usually goes through October.  With questions, contact Laura Bowman at laurabowman@franklingrace.org.

SIGN UP TO PROVIDE DINNER AT ROOTS
Sign Up Center
Sign up at the Sign Up Center to provide dinner for the youth group during Roots (Sundays at 5:30). Not only is this a great service opportunity to show our youth that you care about them, but also this is a great opportunity for community connection. You can sign up to bring a meal on your own, or on behalf of a group. Additionally, we hope you will stay and share in that meal with us! As part of that sharing, you can provide a "passion presentation". This is just a simple discussion about something you do (hobby/profession/etc.) that you can teach the youth about. Our goal is not just to share food, but to share a meal, and benefit from all of the connections that implies.

BOOK COLLECTION FOR JUVENILE DETENTION CENTER
The Grace UMC Youth Group is collecting books for Marion County Juvenile Detention Center. These books are for youth ages 12-18 while they are waiting for their court date. We are collecting paperback, age appropriate, new or lightly used books to donate to them. Some specific recommendations are James Patterson books (his YA ones), Wimpy Kid, Goosebumps, Judy Blume and Bluford mysteries. In general, they also asked for autobiographies (especially of sports and music figures, made for YA audiences), and self-help books made for teens. We will be collecting these donations through the end of March. Please bring your donations to the church office.

CARING MINISTRY OFFERING GRIEF SUPPORT
Have you experienced a recent loss of a loved one? Perhaps it has been some time since you experienced a loss, yet you find yourself unable to move forward through your grief. For folks in either of these places, Grace’s Caring Ministry is offering a personal, adaptable and time-limited grief support opportunity. This is not a “support group” concept, rather a chance for an individual or a family unit to meet with someone over a period of weeks, one-on-one and share about the loss. While this is not a formal part of Grace’s Stephen Ministries, Stephen Ministers will be the primary individuals matched up with participants.  This is intended to be short-term and will involve going through a series of short yet valuable readings. Please contact Jenny Beck at jennybeck@franklingrace.org if this sounds like something that would benefit you and/or your family.

EASTER EGGSTRAVAGANZA
Sunday, Apr 9, 10:15a, Price Hall
The Children/Family Ministry Team will be hosting an "Easter Eggstravaganza" during the Sunday School hour on Sunday, April 9th.
Families will gather in Price Hall where there will be several crafts and games for the children. Children will have the opportunity to hunt for empty eggs (which represent the empty tomb on that first Easter morning), that they will then trade in for a bag filled with treats to take home.  Weather permitting, the Egg Hunt portion will be held outside.  Candy, as well as small prizes (such as pencils or stickers), are currently being collected for this event.  Please bring donations to the church or contact Pastor Susan if you have any questions.

YOUTH GROUP COFFEE HOUSE
Sunday, Apr 16, 2:00p, SYC
Grace UMC Youth Group's Coffeehouse is coming up! This event will be on April 16, from 2-5 pm upstairs in the SYC. Please join us for a time of sharing in the talents and creations of our youth, while also sharing in some good coffee!

SENIOR MINISTRY PRESENTATION
Wednesday, Apr 19, 2:00p, OARC
Senior Ministry is sponsoring a small group presentation by Cathy Campbell on “Hospice vs Palliative Care” on Wednesday, April 19th at 2:00 p.m. in the OARC.  Both palliative care and hospice care are focused on the needs of the patient and their quality of life.  While the objective of both hospice and palliative care is pain and symptom relief, the prognosis and goals of care tend to be different.  Please plan on coming to learn about these differences.

WEBB WEEKEND FOOD BAGS
We are currently low on food donations for the Webb Weekend Meal Bags. If you are out shopping this week, please consider picking up a little extra for the students at Webb with food insecurities. Donations are needed of the following items (INDIVIDUAL SERVINGS ONLY): Mac N Cheese, Cans of Soup (pop tab top), Tuna packets, Vienna Sausages, Breakfast items (oatmeal packets, breakfast bars, etc), pudding, applesauce, fruit cups, granola bars, other snack items (cookies, peanut butter crackers, fruit snacks, chips, etc).  Please place donations in the blue bin beside the Outreach Center.  Thank you for continuing to provide to ensure the students at Webb come to school Monday morning with a full belly and ready to learn!

BLESSING BOX FOOD ITEMS
Grace does a great deal to address food needs in the community. The response to the food drive for children at Webb Elementary has been greatly appreciated. Please remember that we also help with food donations to the Blessing Box at the Public Library: here, we could use canned soups, pastas, macaroni, and canned vegetables and fruits. Simply place these items in the Mission Cabinet in the Hallway by Price Hall.
